2026 Knowles Head Exercise Press Overflight

WHAT: The 2026 Knowles Head Exercise Unified Command will offer two seats to the media for a scheduled 2:00 p.m. overflight of the spill.

WHEN: 2 p.m., Wednesday May 13, 2026

WHERE: Valdez Pioneer Field Airport

BACKGROUND: The tanker, T/V Western Sea was in an allision with a cargo barge while at anchorage at Knowles Head in the morning hours of May 12, causing an immediate spill of crude oil to water.
