Press Release 2
Prince William Sound Response Transitions from Alyeska to Fairwater Tankers Alaska LLC

May 12, 2026

VALDEZ, Alaska, May 12, 2026 – At approximately 7 p.m. today, Fairwater Tankers Alaska LLC has joined
the Unified Command that was established to respond to a crude oil spill in Prince William Sound.
Fairwater owns the tanker T/V Western Sea, and is the responsible party for the cargo that was spilled
at approximately 3:30 a.m.

Alyeska maintains year-round response capabilities in Prince William Sound, and serves as the response
contractor for the initial stages of an incident involving a spill from the Trans Alaska Pipeline System
(TAPS) or a TAPS trade tanker in the area to minimize risk to the public, the environment, and impacts to
the marine transportation system. Moving forward, Fairwater personnel will join United States Coast
Guard and Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation in the unified response.

“We are grateful for the Unified Command’s rapid response and efforts to protect responders, the
public, and the environment,” said Angelo DiBello, incoming Incident Commander for Fairwater. “As part
of the Unified Command, Fairwater is committed to continuing the rapid, aggressive, and well-
coordinated response and cleanup.”

“I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone here today,” said Mike Day, Incident Commander for
Alyeska. “Together, we have prioritized the safety of our personnel while responding to this complex
event. Fairwater is now at the helm as part of Unified Command. I am confident they have the resources
and expertise to advance the response, safely and responsibly. We are grateful for their dedication and
this transfer ensures continued diligent action in the days ahead. As partners in response, and residents
of Prince William Sound, we stand ready to assist.”
